2. Where your data lives: your device and your private iCloud

Phil has no server of its own, no user account, and no sign-in with us. We, as the provider, never have access to your content, and we transmit nothing to ourselves or to third parties.

Everything you enter or record is stored on your iPhone. If you are signed in to iCloud on that iPhone, Phil additionally syncs this content through your private iCloud so that it stays consistent across your own Apple devices using the same Apple Account, and is backed up there. This sync stays entirely inside your personal iCloud area at Apple; neither we nor anyone else can access it. If you are not signed in to iCloud, everything stays on your device only.

Storage in iCloud is provided by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. Apple supplies the infrastructure (iCloud) only; the content sits in the private area tied to your Apple Account, not in any storage we operate or can view.

Specifically, this covers:

  • your testimony entries, including names, contact details, notes and status,
  • attached evidence (photos, videos, PDFs),
  • prophecy audio recordings and their transcripts,
  • your “God speaks” entries,
  • your treasure maps, including the clues on them and what you noted during an outing.

All of this sits in the app’s protected storage area on your device and — if iCloud is active — in your private iCloud. Evidence files and backups you create yourself are wherever you put them, for example in the “Phil” folder of the iPhone Files app.

3. No tracking, no advertising, no analytics

Phil contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking services, and no interfaces to social networks. No usage or device data is collected or evaluated. The typeface used (Pacaembu) is embedded in the app; no request goes to Adobe or any other third party for it.

4. Permissions and what they are used for

So that individual features can work, Phil asks for certain permissions the first time you use them. Every access serves functions on your device only; no data is transmitted to us in the process.

  • Microphone: to record prophecies and testimony videos with sound. The recordings stay on the device.
  • Camera: to take photos and videos as evidence for a testimony.
  • Photos: to add existing photos and videos as evidence.
  • Calendar: to put follow-up appointments into your iPhone calendar and keep them current. The reminder times you choose are stored as alarms on the appointment.
  • Notifications: to remind you locally about upcoming follow-ups and, if you switch it on, about the drink reminder. Phil schedules these reminders entirely on your device. Nothing about them is counted, stored or sent anywhere.
  • Contacts: only to transfer a person’s contact details into your iPhone contacts when you ask for it. Phil does not read your contacts.
  • Speech recognition: for the optional transcription of recordings via Apple’s speech recognition. Where your device supports it, this is processed on the device; otherwise audio may be transmitted to Apple for it (Apple’s privacy terms apply).
  • Local network: Phil loads its own content through a local service that runs on your device only (127.0.0.1). There is no connection to the outside.

You can revoke any permission at any time in the iPhone Settings under “Phil”. The corresponding feature will then no longer be available; the rest of your data remains untouched.

5. Backup and export

Using “Back up (export)” you can create a backup file yourself and put it wherever you want (Files app, mail, AirDrop). That is a step you start. Where the file goes is your decision.

If you have enabled an iCloud device backup in your iPhone settings, the app’s storage is part of that backup. Apple manages that backup under Apple’s privacy terms; we have no access to it.

6. Disclosure to third parties

No personal data is disclosed to third parties. If you yourself pass on a recording, a piece of evidence or a backup file using the iPhone’s share function, that happens at your instigation and is your responsibility.

7. Your rights

Since no records about you exist on our side — we run no server and have no access to your iCloud content — there is nothing with us that access, rectification or erasure could apply to. You can view, change or delete the data stored in Phil yourself in the app at any time; those changes also apply to the copy in your iCloud. If you delete the app, the data held on the device is removed. Content in your iCloud is managed through your Apple Account (for example in the iCloud settings). Evidence files and backups you deliberately placed in the “Phil” folder of the Files app, or elsewhere, remain until you delete them yourself.

Independently of this, under the GDPR you generally have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

8. Responsibility for the content you enter

If you enter other people’s data into Phil (names, contact details, photos, medical confirmations), you are responsible for how that data is handled. Where necessary, obtain the consent of the person concerned — particularly for health information and for evidence such as medical confirmations.

9. Contact

For questions about data protection you can reach us at the address given above.

10. The support form on our website

This section covers the form at encounterhouse.de/phil-en-support only, not the app itself. If you send us a message there, we receive your message, your email address and, if you filled it in, your name. The message is emailed to us and is also stored in the website’s database by the Flamingo plugin, so that we can find it again while we are working on your case. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering support requests, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

We delete these entries at the latest 24 months after the case is closed, and earlier if you ask us to. Write to office@encounterhouse.de and we will remove your message. The website is hosted in Germany; nothing from the form is passed on to third parties.
